As a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization, we are committed to enabling adults in need of basic literacy skills to achieve their potential through one-to-one or small group instruction.
Adult volunteers are provided with approx. 15-hours of free training and are asked to commit to one hour a week tutoring an adult student.

Description:
The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Aroostook County is to promote increased literacy for adult learners in Aroostook County through the effective use of volunteers, the provision of support services for volunteers and learners, and collaboration with individuals, groups, and organizations desiring to foster increased literacy in Aroostook County.

History:
Literacy Volunteers of Aroostook County was incorporated in March 2005. The Board of Directors is comprised of professionals working and living in Aroostook County with a strong commitment to the mission and goals of LV-Aroostook County.
