Hospice Volunteers in Mid Coast Maine is a volunteer organization that provides caring,supportive, non medical services to individuals and families coping with dying and grief, and promotes education and dialog within the community about end-of life issues.

Description:
Hospice is an interdisciplinary program of care that provides relief from symptoms as well as emotional,social, and spiritual support to people at the end of their lives.
Hospice care emphasizes enhancing the quality of life and preserving a sense of dignity.
Hospice is family-centered care and provides support for the entire family.

History:
Jill Miller,a 25 year old nursing school graduate from Topsham, started our Hospice program in Brunswick in 1979.
Those first volunteers provided care and concern for a few dozen families. Today our volunteers are serving thousands every year and the number continues to grow.
