Last updated on February 5, 2008

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is committed to the protection, preservation and enhancement of the botanical heritage of coastal Maine for people of all ages through horticulture, education and research.

Description:
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, on Barters Island Road in Boothbay, invites you to visit and watch our gardens grow. Even in winter, there are sights to see and trails to walk or snowshoe. The gardens are full of interesting textures, shapes, and colors. Then, come spring, revel in the brilliant color and masterful stonework in the spectacular Central Gardens, Rhododendron & Perennial Garden, Shoreland Garden of Native Plants, and Hillside Garden. Walk groomed trails along the shore and on ledge-lined paths on our 248-acre waterfront landscape. Savor the peace you'll find amidst natural woods, wildflowers and ferns, and see outdoor sculpture displayed in perfect settings

History:
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a nonprofit organization that began when a local Boothbay family bought a parcel of land to protect from being developed. In an effort to preserve the land, they transformed it into a botanical garden center which has now doubled in size and tripled in founding.
