Our mission is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
Description:
The ALS Association, Minnesota Chapter provides free programs and services for people who have been diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS causes a gradual, progressive wasting away of the voluntary muscles, often leading to total paralysis. The life expectancy of a person with ALS is usually two to five years from diagnosis. This disease is not contagious. The Minnesota Chapter serves people living in the states of Minnesota and North Dakoto and city of Superior, Wisconsin.
History:
The Minnesota Chapter of The ALS Association was incorporated in 1993, after patients, families, and related professionals banded together to share in their struggles against this tragic disease and to combat it through providing patient services, community education and support of national research.
