New American Services provides services to refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers. Assisting with initial resettlement of refugees including:
Case Management services
employment services
immigration services
unaccompanied refugee minor program
Our agency works as a part of a national network of voluntary agencies whose mission is to receive refugees welcomed to the United States. We are given the responsibility to provide one month's housing, up to eight months of financial assistance, case management and employment services. Our goal is to assist families in regaining self-sufficiency, dignity, and control over their lives and future lives. Volunteers help provide some of the most basic tasks, but also serve as guides to the way of life in North Dakota.
History:
LSS of ND New American Services has been resettling refugees in ND for past 40 years. Refugees arrive to North Dakota from all over the world. In 2007, New American Services resettled approximately 190 individuals from Somalia, Liberia, Sudan, Sierre Leone, Rwanda, Burundi from Africa; Iraq and Iran in the Middle East, and Colombia in South America among other countries in smaller numbers.
