Bethany Homes is a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Bethany serves as a tangible expression of God's love by responding to the needs of the elderly, ever mindful of the worth and dignity of the individual.

We address ourselves in traditional, innovative and cooperative ways in ministering to the whole person, seeking to offer a full range of quality residential and health care services consistent with sound fiscal management.

We dedicate ourselves to making Bethany a place where residents can live in comfort and dignity in a community that is shaped by Christian concern.

Description:
Bethany Homes is a nursing facility with 192 beds for residents. CARES I was established in 1979, and CARES II was established in 1968. Bethany's response to the changing needs of our elderly population is multidisciplinary. The nursing facility is divided into four different units of service, providing quality healthcare for forty-eight residents with dementia on the memory care unit and for 144 long-term care residents. The Bethany Block also includes the Towers I and II facilities with 151 residents.

Bethany Towers I opened in 1963 and currently offers assisted living to fifty-five residents while Towers II opened in 1978, it currently offers assisted living to ninety-six residents.

On each of the units, the focus is on meeting the individualized needs of the residents. The goal is always to assist the residents in achieving and maintaining their highest practicable level of functioning physically, socially, intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally.

History:
On September 13, 1939, a group of people headed by J. H. Dahl, a former Fargo mayor, organized the Bethany Rest Home. It was agreed that the organization should incorporate with five members and that is be a non-profit institution.

For four years the Bethany Rest Home operated at 607 South 7th Street with Mrs. Kriedman as Superintendent and Mr. T. I. Skaar as Financial Manager. In 1942, the Fargo Sanitarium was purchased and Bethany moved to 1333 3rd Ave S. This move allowed for an increase in the number of individuals cared for.

In 1955, the first contact was made with officials of The Evangelical Lutheran Church concerning church related ownership of Bethany. In 1960, sixteen congregations of The American Lutheran Church in the Fargo conference formed the corporation American Lutheran Homes, Inc. At this time, the Bethany Rest Homes Corporation turned its assets and liabilities over to the new corporation which is the Bethany Homes of today.
