The purpose of the New Sudanese Community Association is to facilitate the orientation and integration of refugees into the Fargo-Moorhead and U.S. cultures.
Description:
The purpose of this organization is to facilitate the funding and implementation of programs that will orient and integrate refugees in the F/M and U.S. cultures. In reviewing the greatest need to help individuals assimilate into the community, the Association identified their top goal as providing reliable and accessible transportation for a variety of reasons including employment, school, medical appointments, social service meetings, and refugee meetings.
History:
Currently there are over 1000 Sudanese immigrants in the community of Fargo-Moorhead. A group of Fargo-Moorhead immigrants and refugees joined together to address the problems and issues they and their peers were facing. The formed the New Sudanese Community Association in 2002, and they were granted their 501(c)3 statues in 2004.
