Guided by God's love and grace, Lutheran Social Service of North Dakota brings healing, help and hope. The Restorative Justice program focuses on addressing juvenile crime by involving victims, offenders and the community to discuss the harm caused by the juvenile's offense and what is needed to repair the harm.
Description:
The Restorative Justice Program is currently seeking volunteers to serve 3-5 hours per month on the "Community Restorative Justice Council". This council offers a creative option to address juvenile crime in a safe and constructive manner to restore relationships and maintain safe, healthy communities. The council will assist juvenile offenders to take responsibility and be accountable to repair the harm they have caused by their illegal behavior to the community and/or the victims of their offense.
History:
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota is a statewide organization serving children and families since 1919. The agency offers over 19 human service programs. Restorative Justice has been a program of Lutheran Social Services of ND since 1999. Restorative Justice has three different programs that are guided by the philosophy that crime causes real harm and losses to both victims and the community and that juvenile offenders need to be given the opportunity to repair the harm.
