SunDance Riding Therapy, Inc. is an non-profit organization that is committed to enriching the lives of disabled children and adults through therapeutic horse interaction and riding.

Description:
SunDance Riding Therapy operates April through September. Classes will be held starting on Tuesday April 11th at 5:00p.m. We do not hold classes after Oct. 30th due to the weather in this area. In the spring of 2006 SunDance Riding Therapy is starting it's first ever Special Olympics Equestrian team for disabled athletes to train and compete in various Equine classes and also we are expanding our services to serve disabled individuals that can not medically ride the horse or individuals that have fears/anxieties about horses to participate in therapeutic horse interaction. In our "off" time our Board of Directors is busy putting things together for our following year. This is also the time when we do a lot of our public educating and presentations to various organizations through out the community. SunDance Riding Therapy is a member center to NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Assoc.). NARHA is a national non-profit organization that sets standards and guidelines for each center to operate with to provide the safest environment possible and to also provide continuing education opportunities for our instructors, Board of Directors, and volunteers. Our Instructor is NARHA certified as well a Special Olympics coach.

History:
SunDance Riding Therapy, Inc. was founded in 1995 by two local women that at have a great love for horses and for the quality of human life. SunDance started that first year with 8 riders and kept growing as each went by, in 2005 SunDance served 56 riders and our goal for 2006 is to serve 80 or more. SunDance Riding Therapy is the longest operating therapeutic program in our area and the majority of our clients come from Cass and Clay counties but any individual wanting to participate from any where is always welcomed with open arms.
