This chapter has over 400 volunteers who are providing service in the area covered by the chapter. The American Red Cross is a non-profit organization. While it is chartered by the United States Congress, the American Red Cross receives no Federal funding and is supported exclusively by donations from the American public, including revenue generated by activities such as CPR Training and First Aid.

History:
The American Red Cross has a long and proud history of providing help to those in need. Our nearly 126 year heritage has been built on the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. These principles, humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality are regarded as the moral authority under which we operate.

The Red River Valley Chapter located in East Grand Forks, MN is a chartered unit of the American Red Cross. The Red River Valley Chapter was originally chartered on May 3, 1917.
