The Benedictine Health System is a Catholic health care organization that provides a continuum of services and is entrusted with furthering the health care mission of the Benedictine Sisters of Duluth, Minnesota. The System is committed to witness to God's love for all people, with special concern for the poor and the powerless. Description:
Volunteers are a vital part of life at St. Benedict's Health Center. Our volunteers enhance the lives of the residents and staff by sharing their time and talents. Volunteer opportunities include: quarterly mailings, hair care, entertainment, church activities, coffee shop, gardening, mending, and many other activities. We strive to make every volunteer experience at our facility personally rewarding by matching skills and interests.
History:
The Benedictine Sisters, who sponsor Benedictine Living Communities, have had healthcare as their mission since 1888 with the opening of St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN. In 1985, the Sisters formed the Benedictine Health System to further their healthcare mission. Then, in 1988 the Benedictine Health System established Benedictine Living Communities and acquired facilities in ND and SD.
