To provide services which enable the elderly to remain independent and in control of their own lives for as long as possible.

Description:
Minot COA's target group is the 60 plus.

Minot COA offers nutrition services which include, home delivered, congregate and frozen meals, also nutrition education. We also offer outreach services, foot care clinics, transportation and homemaker services through its subdivision, Prairie Rose Home Service.

All services with the exception of transportation and the homemaker services are provided on a donation basis. Transportation cost is $2.00 each way. Homemaker service charge is based on your income.

Minot COA serves Mountrail County, Ward County, with the exception of Kenmare and the Western half of McHenry County.

Activities such as bingo, social cards, pool, educational speakers, line dancing, social dancing, are available for senior participation. 55 Alive Defensive classes are held at the Parker Senior Center.

Group meetings held at the Parker Senior Center include AARP, NARFE, Healthy Lifestyle.

Through out the year their are special events that seniors may attend.

Minot COA volunteer opportunities include delivering meals to the elderly, working in the kitchen, helping serve the noon meal and working at our food booth during the Hostfest.

Anyone in need of a facility to have a birthday or anniversary party, meetings and etc. may rent the Parker Senior Center.

Minot COA also owns and operates the Parker Coffee Shop. The coffee shop is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch menu is available. The coffee shop is open to the public.

History:
The Minot Commission on Aging (Minot COA)was incorporated in December, 1973 as a private, non-profit corporation to receive and administer funds for a comprehensive senior citizen's program for the elderly population.

August of 1987 Minot COA purchased the the Parker Senior Center in Minot.

April of 2000, Minot COA started Prairie Rose Home Service. Services such as laundry, housekeeping, respite and personal care are available.
