East Grand Forks Campbell Library is committed to supporting the City of East Grand Forks mission by providing a service-oriented and fiscally well-managed library, creating an environment where lifelong habits of learning, self-improvement and self-expression are encouraged and where patrons can meet their educational, informational and recreational needs. The Library responds to the needs of users by providing clean and inviting buildings, well-organized and up-to-date collections, friendly professional service and well-trained staff.

Description:
The Campbell Library is a full service lending library with an extensive military history collection. Internet access, FAX and copy machines are available. The library has several meeting areas that may be reserved. Programming includes: children's Story Time 4 times a week, writer's groups for middle, high school and adults, art exhibits and other presentations. Summer reading enrichment activities are available for the community.

History:
The library in East Grand Forks was established in 1937 by the L’Etudier Club, a group of local women dedicated to cultural enrichment of their community. The first public library, a branch of the Polk County Library, was established in 1960 and housed in the old Masonic Temple. The facility was moved to the new Memorial City Hall in the early 1960’s. The library had three additional moves—one to a location offered by the American Legion 1981. At this time volunteers moved 34,000 units of books, periodicals, records, tapes and artwork. To honor the former library director, the library was named the East Grand Forks Campbell Library in 1992.

The flood of the Red River instituted the last two moves of the library. When the river flooded its banks the library was devastated, the building flooded and all of the materials within destroyed. But donations also flooded the library in the form of monetary donations, boxes of books, videos, computers and shelves. The library opened in a temporary location in the Nash Park warming house. From here plans for a new library were made and the library made its final move into this facility in 2001. The collection has expanded and now many more resources are available through the East Grand Forks Campbell Library. The library also houses the largest military history collection in the area, including books appropriate for all ages, videos and periodicals are available for research and to check out.
