Riding on Angels' Wings offers therapeutic horseback riding to children with disabilities. The mission of Riding on Angels' Wings is to strengthen, encourage, and educate individuals with physical, mental, emotional, and (or) behavioral disabilities through the love and assistance of equine.

Description:
Why therapeutic riding?

Therapeutic horseback riding for children with physical disabilities helps to strengthen muscles, improve posture and coordination, and increase joint mobility. They feel a new type of freedom and are able to experience new sounds and sensations that a wheelchair or braces cannot provide them.

Children with mental and emotional disabilities benefit from the discipline and concentration that is required to ride a horse, as well as the enjoyment of developing a relationship with their equine partner.

Horseback riding provides children with disabilities an opportunity to achieve their hopes and dreams, while improving their social skills and overcoming anxieties.

Activities children may participate in at ROAW include: Group Riding, Independent Riding, Equestrian Special Olympics, ROAW Horse Show, and Animal Interaction.

The program is owned and operated by Kirk & Bette Shipley and serves children with a wide variety of disabilities such as: Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Learning Disabilities, Spina Bifida, Muscular Dystrophy, and other undiagnosed disabilities.
