Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with two missions. First, we want to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are in need by the gift of handmade blankets, a blanket "hug". Second, we try to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity to individuals and groups for the benefit of children.
Description:
Project Linus is in need of "blanketeers" to make handmade blankets for children in need. The blankets can be knit, crocheted, fleece, flannel, or quilted. We have monthly meetings where blanketeers can meet, drop off blankets, and pick up any fabric or yarn we may have had donated, and two sewing days a month, days and places vary. Most volunteers make their blankets on their own, or in groups they have formed, with their own supplies. We do have yarn and fabric donated sometimes, and we will distribute it when we have it available.
History:
Project Linus began in 1995 in Colorado. Since then, it has grown to over 350 chapters across the United States and has donated over 1.5 million blankets to children in need. The Eastern ND chapter started donating blankets in Jan 2006, and has donated 3600+ blankets through foster care, hospitals, abuse shelters, fire depts, police depts, amublance services all across Eastern ND.
