By providing a clear, strong voice on behalf of those we serve, LSS Guardians and Conservators seek to preserve the integrity, independence and well-being of vulnerable adults in the least restrictive manner possible.
Description:
LSS Guardianship/Conservatorship Services makes decisions regarding health care, living situations, and finances when an individual cannot do it alone. LSS serves, through court appointment, vulnerable adults who have: dementia, cognitive impairment, developmental disabilities, mental illness, chemical dependencies, and traumatic brain injury. Our Guardians make regular visits and meet with medical and other caregivers in order to make appropriate decisions. When appointed Conservator of an estate, LSS secures assets, pays bills, and assures the proper management of an individual's financial and other assets.
History:
For well over a century, Lutheran Social Service has responded with compassion to Minnesotans in need.
Since 1865, when a Lutheran pastor took in four orphaned children who needed care and protection, LSS has been there in times of family, individual, and social crises for young and old alike.
Today, that heritage of caring service continues.
Lutheran Social Service continues to direct its energy toward meeting immediate crises while planning for future social needs. We recognize the importance of each individual and that we each have a moral obligation to be actively involved in the betterment of humanity. Our vision is that all people have the opportunity to live and work in community with dignity, safety, and hope.
