“The Fargo Marathon will continuously strive to promote a friendly and fun event dedicated to the participants, the volunteers, spectators and our chosen charities. We firmly believe that physical fitness should not be a choice, but rather, a part of life for all people of all ages.”
RUN FAST………RUN FRIENDLY……..RUN FARGO!
History:
The Fargo Marathon began in 2002 when we hosted the inaugural Run for the Children Half Marathon. With a field of just over 300 people in our first year, we were excited about our prospects for the future of that event. In 2004, Run for the Children moved to downtown Fargo, and within one hour of the completion of that race, the decision to host a full marathon was made. In May of 2005, over 2,400 runners from 44 different states and 4 different countries joined us for the Inaugural Scheels Fargo Marathon. Despite a cooler than average day from Mother Nature (and that’s pretty cool for Fargo), this race was a huge success. Volunteers, fans, sponsors, the media and thousands of others lined the streets of our community and made it all happen.
