The Polk County DAC is a day program the provides services to persons with special needs in western Polk County. There are offices in Crookston and East Grand Forks. Our mission: promotes and supports individuals with disabilties in acquiring, improving and maintaining enjoyment and quality of life through individualized programming.
Description:
The Polk County DAC serves adults with developmental disabilities. We provide services Monday through Friday from 9:00-3:00. When the need for job coaching goes outside those hours, we have been able to accomadate individual needs. We provide services in job development, job coaching, vocational training, sensory integration, money skills training, social skills training, behavioral intervention, assist with any and all daily living skills (feeding repositioning, toileting) community integration, communication skills training or assistance with augmentative devices, leisure wellness and senior programming. All our staff are certified in first aid, CPR, and medication administration.
History:
The Polk County DAC was established in 1964 and was one of the first in the state. The Polk County DAC provides services (as well as transportation) to all of western Polk County. Our mission is ever changing to meet the changing needs or our clients. We operate under the philosophy of: "Clients come first".
