Helping People Help the Land
Description:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) working through a cooperative working agreement with North Dakota’s soil conservation districts is the agency responsible for conservation of natural resources on private land. NRCS provides technical assistance to landowners using voluntary programs and the Earth Team. NRCS works in North Dakota through 56 soil conservation districts. Local Conservation districts are organized statewide, often following county boundaries. Through the Earth Team, the NRCS is looking for people willing to commit their time and talent to conserving and protecting soil, water, and wildlife in their community in all 56 conservation district of the state.
History:
Since 1935 the NRCS (originally called the Soil Conservation Service) has provided leadership in a partnership effort to help America’s private land owners and managers conserve their soil, water, and other natural resources. We manage natural resource conservation programs that provide environmental, societal, financial, and technical benefits.
