4 Luv of Dog Rescue is an independent dog rescue devoted to saving dogs from 'death row'. All of the dogs in this rescue have come from shelters where they have run out of time and were scheduled to be put to sleep. They are all wonderful, loving dogs who deserve a second or third chance at life and love. This rescue does not believe in breed discrimination and welcomes all breeds.

4 Luv of Dog Rescue was founded and is run by Kish Hilmert of Fargo, ND. Kish rescues dogs from pounds and shelters where they have run out of time and are going to be euthanized ('put to sleep'). The dogs she rescues are the dogs that the shelter/ pound staff believe to be of very good temperament and highly adoptable- dogs who will make wonderful pets and ended up in the sad situation they are in through no fault of their own. Without this rescue they would never again step outside the pound or know happiness or be loved. Kish arranges for the dogs to be transported from wherever they are to Fargo, gets them veterinary care, arranges for boarding or (ideally) a loving foster home and then places them up for adoption. The potential adopters are carefully screened and a home visit is conducted to make sure that the dog goes to a wonderful home and that the dog and the new family are compatible. If everyone agrees, the adopting family takes the dog for a two week trial period before the adoption can become official. Kish also offers support and advice to new adopters to make sure that the adoptions are a success. Foster families are an important part of 4 Luv of Dog Rescue and are always needed. As one of Kish's fosterers I can say that it is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done, and I wish that more people could experience the joy of being a foster home! Besides Kish and her foster families there are other volunteers needed to help these dogs find a new life after so much sadness. I was a foster home for 4 Luv of Dog Rescue in Fargo. Impressive dog rescue, only 1 woman so there's no paid staff (Adopt-A-Pet is all volunteer too and I have helped them in the past). 4 Luv of Dog Rescue really helps a lot of dogs find new homes, especially if you realize it is just one woman. Like the founder, Kish, says, "one person really can make a difference". I will continue to support this Fargo Dog Rescue and urge others to volunteer - you don't need a shelter and big paid staff to help animals in Fargo/West Fargo/Moorhead. posted by Chip on December 7, 2007
