The mission of the Roosevelt Park Zoo is to provide an enjoyable recreational and educational experience for the residents and visitors of our community and region. We strive to promote wildlife understanding and conservation through public education and the maintenance of high quality exhibits for our living collection.
Description:
Roosevelt Park Zoo is located on roughly 21 acres, and is home to more than 200 mammals, birds and reptiles from all over the world. RPzoo has some amazing animals at the zoo including penguins, giraffe, bongos, tigers, leopards, bears, apes and otters to list a few. The zoo has a wide variety of opportunities for the young and old alike including live animal encounters, school visits, teacher workshops, special events, birthday parties, teen programs and camps. The zoo is a very positive and up beat place to visit, volunteer and work.
History:
Owned and opreated by the Minot Park District, the Roosevelt Park Zoo has a stong history in the Minot community. The zoo started with a lone a male bison from Montana in 1919. Since then amazing changes have brought us to present day giving North Dakota and Minot a zoo they can be VERY proud of! The zoo is supported by the Greater Minot Zoological Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting RPZoo's efforts through educational programs and displays, conservation awareness, promotion and fundraising.
