DreamCatchers' Baseball League For Special Needs Children
[ View Opportunity ]
Last updated on April 25, 2008

To provide evening baseball games during the summer for youth ages k - 12th grade with developmental disabilities.

Description:
Each player is paired with a volunteer/buddy that does not have a disability. The league is specifically designed for children who would not choose to participate in the typical summer recreation program due to safety concerns or a need for extra support in getting around the bases if using a wheelchair, braces or walker.

Each game consists of 2 innings in which every child bats, runs the bases and scores. No team score is kept so everyone wins!

Games are played 8 Thursday nights during the summer at 6:30 pm at the South Hill Complex KC Ball Diamond .

History:
The DreamCatchers' Baseball League was founded in 2003 to provide a summer recreational baseball program for special needs children. The first year had 13 players and in 2007 there are 44 players.
