The purpose of Senior Companion Program is to engage people 60 and older particularly those with limited incomes, into volunteer service to provide supportive, individualized service to help elderly adults with special needs to maintain their dignity and independence.
Description:
Senior Companions become a part of a team of caregivers. They alert doctors and family members to potential health problems. Senior Companions also provide short periods of relief to primary caregivers such as family members.
History:
The Senior Companion Program has been in the state since 1981 and Lutheran Social Services has always been the sponsor.
