ELS Language Centers Grand Forks

Last updated on May 21, 2008

The mission of ELS is to provide English language and educational exchange programs that exceed the academic, professional, and social expectations of our clients throughout the world.

Description:
The ELS Language Centers goal is to provide English language training of the highest standard and quality, while at the same time offering a wide range of auxiliary services designed to meet the individual needs of each program participant. We want our students to be successful in meeting their educational goals.

ELS Objectives:
• To provide creative learning activities within the classroom through which a student can improve his or her ability to communicate in English. Rather than memorizing rules, a student builds fluency by applying the structures of English to meaningful, practical situations.
• To help academically bound students develop the skills to succeed in a university setting once admitted.
• To help academically bound students with the college admission process.
• To provide a variety of opportunities through guest speakers and field trips for students to use their English skills in practical, real-world settings.
• To offer a calendar of social activities and encourage students to participate in as many as possible in order to practice English outside the classroom, learn more about educational opportunities in the US, and experience American culture.
• To provide a wide range of services to help students adjust to living and studying in the US.

History:
ELS Language Centers began in Washington D.C. in the 1970s. The company has expanded to 43 offices throughout the U.S. The Grand Forks ELS Center opened its doors on UND Campus in April 2005.
