Altru's Hospice...a special kind of caring, providing peace comfort and dignity to people in the final phase of a terminal illness.
Description:
Altru Hospice;offers care to the terminally ill who have a limited life expectancy and are no longer receiving treatment toward a cure. Hospice offers nursing services, social work, nurses aides, pastoral care and volunteers. On-call nursing service is available 24 hours a day. Bereavement services are provided to families for at least a year or more after the patient dies.
History:
Altru's Hospice is a "hometown hospice" originating in 1981 in Grand Forks. Altru Hopsice was Medicare Certified in 1987. Altru's Hospice offices are located in Grand Forks, Grafton, Park River, McVille and Cavalier and serves their surrounding communities. Hospice Volunteers serve our hospice patients by providing respite,delivering medications, providing transportation, assisting with light housekeeping and running errands. Volunteer training is required to work with hospice patients. Hopsice training is free of charge. Contact Volunteer Coordinator for current training schedule. Office volunteer opportunities are also available. Volunteer assignments are flexible to work around work,school and family schedules.
