The Society meets basic needs while inspiring hope and empowering persons to reach their fullest potential. The Society advocates for those in need, promotes their dignity and self worth, and strives to walk with them, learn from them, and see them in the presence of God.
Description:
SVDP offers Emergency Financial Assistance for those in crisis, a Food Pantry, Cars for Cause, Forward Movement Program,Thrift Store vouchers for those in need of beds,household items, clothing and furniture. Transitional Housing and Permanent Supportive Housing. The organization assist not only homeless families and individuals, but makes every attempt to assist before homelessness becomes a reality for families.
History:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Grand Forks, North Dakota was founded after the flood of 1997 as a way of coordinating and unifying services among the Catholic parishes in Grand Forks. Each of the parishes had their own human needs services and the decision was made to place all of those services under one roof to better serve the community of Grand Forks.
