The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the principles of the International Red Cross Movement. In addition, the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay will develop and offer services that address critical human, health, and safety needs of the communities which it serves and are consistent with the National Mission.

History:
The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton. The MetroWest Red Cross (Framingham) was established in 1917 and joined the Massachusetts Bay Chapter in 1993.
